Amy Price

My name is Amy Price and I am one of the eco coordinators at DIA Emirates Hills. I have a great interest and passion for the environment and currently lead our Eco Club (along with Manmohan Singh) as well as teaching Environmental Systems & Societies and Biology for our year 12 and 13 students.

I have a strong background in environmental studies and ecology, starting with a degree in Marine Biology, I also have 10 years of experience teaching Animal Science and Ecology in the UK as well as being involved in conservation, sustainability and environmental organisations outside of my professional career throughout my time in the UK and the UAE. â€‹

I strongly believe that sustainability and the environment are both vital and useful parts of the curriculum. The subjects covered help equip our learners to be global citizens and stewards of the planet, fostering a sense of responsibility and care for our environment and all its amazing living things. In addition, the skills learned and knowledge gained will help prepare our students for a job market and business environment where sustainable and climate focused roles are a continuously growing sector.  â€‹

Whilst the subject matter of environmental science and ecology are stand alone subjects and taught throughout the school, we also take opportunities to integrate this throughout our curriculum at DIA, for example using climate data for statistical analysis in maths, using sustainability/climate issues as inspiration in art and studying circular economics models in business.

Our students are without doubt our key strength at DIA, driving climate and sustainability initiatives and taking the lead to undertake inspirational and meaningful projects throughout the year. We at DIA are proud of the caring, educational and future focused environment they create with these projects, clubs and campaigns.
