Artistic Background

An avid filmmaker and educator with over 14 years of experience in the Arts field. My passion projects include collaboration videos with brands such as Volkswagen and film related content creation on social media.

IB Teaching background 

 

7 plus years of experience teaching Drama, Media Arts and Film Studies.

Biggest achievement 

• Personal - Having photographs that I have taken being featured in major UAE and global publications and social media platforms. 

• Professional – Building up the Media Arts and Film Studies department.

What made me dedicate life to teaching? 

 

I have great memories of my English secondary school teacher, Mr. Williams, who inspired me to get into teaching. His care and passion combined helped me make better choices in life. Media Arts is a great way to combine lifelong skills with classroom-based learning and I am so thankful I get to make a positive impact on the lives of so many students, like Mr. Williams had on mine.

 

Why has the IB impacted me as a teacher?

I am someone who strongly believes in developing practical skills alongside gaining theoretical knowledge and IB is a great way of combining subjects across the board. Not all learning should be conducted alone and that is something I love about the IB – being exposed to different subjects, cultures, communities, abilities within a classroom means we are able to challenge our own values and beliefs and work on ourselves to become better individuals that can contribute positively to the ever-changing world.

Most meaningful experience teaching IB? 

In Media Arts, I have been so proud to see students use different forms of media to raise awareness for topics that are close to their hearts, like mental wellbeing. Students have shared that units such as the School Awareness Campaign or 21st Century Issues have given them a platform to share their experiences of mental health struggles, in the hopes that other students in the same position do not feel alone. Caring and empathetic students will evolve into valuable members of society as adults.
